Learners will practice using the right tone for a given situation. Since the reader can't hear the writer's voice, see any facial expressions, or interpret intent through body language, the tone used in an email is critical to conveying any message. The three strategies for finding the right tone are:

1. Relate to the reader

2. Create visual appeal

3. Write from the reader's perspective

Participants will go through experiences in the class that will require them to pause and think about how their words, along with the subject line, the attachments, the people listed in CC/BCC, and the layout of their message could come across to the reader.
